Food Systems, Nutrition & Gardening
This course is designed for high school students in grades 9-12. It is intended to provide information and interactive lessons regarding food systems, nutrition and gardening. The course incorporates topics such as school food, food and culture, basic gardening, etc. This course will help the students make a connection to where their food comes from, how nutrition is connected to learning and how they can become more active in the food system by gardening themselves or supporting community and school gardens.This course has been designed to meet common core standards.

From their website: Discovery Education, Sanford Health and WebMD teamed up to create a new program for elementary educators and students called fit 4 the classroom, which brings the four pillars of the fit initiative, mood, move, food and recharge, into the classroom. The fit initiative, located at fit.webmd.com, contains a suite of free resources designed to empower children and parents to make healthy lifestyle choices. Below you will find a series of FREE dynamic lesson plans with engaging activities and videos that demonstrate the importance of a balanced daily life, and easily tie into math, science or other classroom instruction.
